#2 – What did we do that didn’t work or deliver a solid ROI for our time and/or money? How do we get rid of it?

Gang …

I have to start doing these fishing reports in a disguise cause a few of the local fishing guides are not at all happy with me dishing out this info! Anyway … hope you enjoy the stuff we’re sharing. Let us know how you like these posts. We want to make them informative and FUN!

PS … left out of the report that we fished Traylor and the quality fish were in close and the numbers of fish were outside in 5′ to 6′ of water!

Top Water Beauty!

Just left a week at the condo and all I can say is that it is windy! 20 to 30 mph winds the entire time we were there this past week. Good news is that the work on our parking lot is coming along swiftly. Tearing up the old stuff and laying new concrete throughout the property is going to continue to add the the fresh look we gained when the condos were painted recently and new roofs added.

Asa homeowner there I love it that the property values are being raised by all of the improvements. Even better, we love it because it is going to add to your enjoyment of the time you spend relaxing there. Before it is done we are going to be the premiere waterfront condo property in all of the Rockport-Fulton area.

Fishing while we were there got old with the wind blowing so hard but it didn’t mean we were blanked when it came to catching. We spent most of our time drifting protected shorelines in the Estes Flats areas. I love throwing top waters, particularly the bone colored Spook Jr, and it looks like the water has warmed up sufficiently for them to be effective because blow-ups and hook-ups were the order of every trip.

The fish we caught were holding in water that ran a little deeper than most of the shallow flats. 2 1/2 to 3 feet of water with thick grass on the bottom consistently held the most consistent bites. We had more than our fair share of dinks but there were plenty of keepers mixed in. The reality is I love the blow-ups as much as the hookups so it was a blast every time we got out there.

Of course there is always the occassional thrill of catching an extraordinary trout or redfish and our time down there provided my son Jason with his personal best! This hookup came when we decided to do some afternoon fishing. Winds has slowed to 10 to 15 and having read something on the www.2coolfishing.com website about using larger and darker topwaters in rough waters he decided to tie on a Super Spook in chrome with black back. Two casts in I can hear the explosion of water that comes when a large predator enhales a topwater and I immediately recognize he is hooked up with a larger fish. Jason shows the touch and patience that comes with being a more than competent fisherman and in due time the “big girl” comes to net! A quick measurement shows her to be just a hair short of 30″, pictures are taken, high fives are shared and we get her back in the water. What an experience to share with your son and what a blessing to be out that day! A picture of the trout is shown at the top of this blog.

Signing off from now but we’re headed down again this weekend. We hope the winds have laid so we can enjoy our time a little better but we are always glad just to be there! We invite you to come down to Rockport and enjoy a little R&R yourself soon. If you ae looking for a place to stay then check out our condo at www.kontikidream.com . We would love to have you as our guest! Call or e-mail us if we can help you with accomodations or if you have any questions about the Rockport area or what’s happening on the fishing scene!

Blessings,

Hey folks …

Jim & Christie Jacobus here! This blog begins our journey into sharing with people what’s going on in Rockport, Texas, at Kon Tiki Beach Resort, at our condo #208 and in our lives in general! We want to keep everyone up on what’s happening in this dream Texas Riviera location and invite you to join us for a stay here!

In this blog we will attempt to cover a lot of ground! I myself (Jim speaking) will endeavor to let everyone know what’s going on as far as fishing is concerned in the area. I will write about what’s biting, when it’s biting, what it’s biting on and even tell you exactly where (as best I can) they are biting!

Christie, on the other hand, will cover what to do and where to go and my guess is that it will have something or a lot to do with shopping in the area!

We will also talk about our favorite places to eat (and there are many), things to do, festivities in the area, experiences we have both good abd bad and we will also muse from time to time about life in general!

If you have been to Kon Tiki Beach Resort in the past or you are considering coming in the future we want to keep you up on what’s happening around here! And, trust me, there are a lot of awesome things happening here at the resort on a daily basis! We would, of course, love to have you as a guest at our condo but there are a number of great units here in Kon Tiki to stay at!

We will do our best to make the blog a fun place to visit by adding pictures and even a video every now and then to keep things interesting. We encourage you to post your comments and feel free to ask questions. This is your blog as much as it is ours and we encourage you  to take the time and connect with us and share what your experiences have been while here in the Rockport, Texas area. Have a question about any of the above? Then ask it and we will try to answer it for you!

Bottom line … we want to keep you up on what’s happening around here, share some life stories and have fun while doing so!

Sincerely,

Jim & Christie Jacobus
